I'm Sick

I'm so sick. I came down with something last Friday. Coughing, runny nose, painful to breath. Thought I would stick it out because I already had plans to go the Atlanta with Amie and Lillie for a couple days. ANd I did stick it out. We had a really fun time and I'll post pictures later. We got home yesterday and I couldn't stick it out any longer. I went to the doctor today, got a chest X-ray, and was told I have Pleurisy....could turn into pneumonia. So I'm home in bed waiting for Christian to go pick up my many perscriptions. Man, i feel bad.

I've been Tagged!

I've been tagged by Sonia. So here it goes!

The smell of your favorite homemade cookie or a certain someone's perfume is difficult to forget. Write down five memorable smells and the time in your life that you associate with them.

1. Wintergreen- When I was little, my grandfather used wintergreen flavored mouthwash. Whenever I smell wintergreen it brings back memories of being hugged by my grandfather. My husband has been buying Wintergreen Altoids lately, so everytime I get in his car I smell Wintergreen and immediately think of my Grandpa.

2. Fall- I love the smell of fall. Crisp air. Smoke from burning leaves. I don't know...there is just a distinct smell of fall that I love. And this time of year just brings back memories of football games and knowing that the holidays are not that far away.

3. Playdough and Crayons- It's not that I really love these smells, but they do have a distinct smell that you don't forget your whole lifetime. Of course, they remind me of elementary school.

4. Diesel engine exhaust- okay I know this sounds wierd but here's the story on this one. When I was 12 my family lived on a boat for a year and it had 2 diesel engines. My dad sometimes had to spend hours working on those engines and that exhaust smell permiated the air. So whenever I smell exhaust from a 18-wheeler I immediately remember being somewhere in the carribean and my dad trying to get the engines fixed.

5. Cinnamon- I love the smell of cinnamon. Makes me think of Christmas.

Hope you are having a good week. Here's what's been going on in my life:

1. I watched Project Runway last night. I never miss an episode...love that show. So last night they brought back Angela and Vincent which was an interesting twist. Luckily niether one of them won the challenge so we won't be seeing them any more...and we never again have to hear Vincent say "it really gets me off". I shuddered every time he said that. Cayne got kicked off too and I'm sorry to see him go. I really liked his somewhat tacky style! I wish Jeffrey would get kicked off...he is so mean and I really hated his outfit last night. I thought his model looked like a street walker.

2. We got a letter from the IRS yesterday...that's never good! Seems they made a mistake and so our saga with them will linger on. It's funny how if the tax payer makes a mistake they can take action but when they make a mistake it just means the whole situation is just going to linger on longer. Hopefully this situation will be resolved before the end of the year. I hate to start another year with this hanging over our heads.

3. Turns out our adorable 17 year old daughter has been lying to us for the last 3 months. She's had a boyfried all this time and we never knew about it. She didn't think we would approve of him. Ya know what? She's right. We wouldn't. She's been going over to his house when she told us she was at her friends house. Classic teenage girl behavior! So, now she says she's relieved that her lying is over and she will be spending the next month at school, work, or home. She's our last child to have to go through this stuff with and I will be relieved when she has graduated and is at college. I know she will still probably do stupid stuff then, but I just probably won't know about it!

4. My diet is still going good. I've lost 26.4 pounds. I count every tenth of a pound as a loss!! I'm excited to be getting close to 30 pounds lost and when that happens I'll post before and after shots.

5. Our annual Davis Family Camping Trip (which wasn't really camping) went really well. We stayed in a very nice 3 story cabin on Kentucky Lake. Adam brought his girlfriend's Jet Ski so the kids did that all day Saturday. The downstairs had a game room and big screen TV with Kareoke. Those kids (ages 3-19) sang Kareoke all
night...even Adam! They had a lot of fun. We all did. And I look forward to next year to do it all again.

Well I gotta run...taking my dog to the groomers, stopping by the scrapbook store. I gotta go to Target to get a new bra. Do you know how hard it is to find a bra that fits right? I watched Oprah the other day about how when you have to right bra you can actually look thinner and younger. So I'm on a quest to find the perfect bra...trying to find one that I don't have to pay $50 for. Then I'm having lunch with an old friend...looking forward to that. Hope you have a great day!

It's Me Again!

Okay, I know I said yesterday that I was going to a once a week blogging entry, but I guess I'm just in the mood for blogging lately.
I wanted to post these pictures for my mom to see. Lillie and I made a cake this morning to take with us on our trip. It's an old family recipe...Chocolate Sheet Cake. My mom makes this for all family gatherings...if she didn't she would have a very angry group on her hands. I don't think I have ever made it succefully before. But it looks and smells pretty darn good this time. Lillie actually had more fun washing the dishes for me afterwards. In fact, she's still in the kitchen banging things around in the sink!

And one more thing. Did ya'll see the first season game of football last night? I watched the whole game...and my favorite team won, of course. GO STEELERS!!!!

Okay, that's all for now. Lillie and I are off to Target, Chick-Fil-A, and to stop by and see her mommy before we head out of town. Posted by Picasa

My weekly update!

My blogging has turned into a once a week thing...and I think I'll keep it that way.
So, what's been happening this week?
Well I guess the biggest news is that I quit my job. And I feel so good about it. I have totally enjoyed my freedom this week...been shopping and doing things around the house that I tend to neglect. And now I'm free to spend more time helping Joey in his business and I can go to Kentucky to visit my mom and dad anytime I want to. And I'm free to go to the MTSU football games coming up...I'm excited about that. I think it was a good move.
A couple of days ago I decided I was going to learn to knit. I have always wanted to learn and so I did it. I Googled "learn to knit" and it actually brought up a video. You know, you can learn to do anything on the internet. It was so easy and I have already made Lillie a poncho. I know it just looks like a green square, but maybe tomorrow I'll take a picture of her wearing it and you'll get a better idea. She was so cute yesterday when I told her I was making her something. I think it made her feel really special! Now I want to make something else, but I don't know what. I was going to make a poncho for me but Christian informed me that was definitely a fashion no-no, so if anyone has some other ideas for easy beginner things, let me know.
Another thing I've been thinking about this week is a statement that was on the front of last weeks bulletin at my church. Every year our pastor does a Fall Series and the last two weeks he's been talking about God's promises for us. On the bulletin was this statement: God's promises are reminders that the canvas of our lives are works yet unfinished. I love that. I think I'm going paint that phrase in a large canvas. That's my next project.
Well, tomorrow we will be going up to Kentucky Lake for our annual Davis family camping trip. Actually this year it's not technically camping. Joey's parents rented a chalet and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I know it will be easier, but there's is something about sitting out by a campfire with a sweat shirt on roasting marshmallows that really brings the family close together. I just don't think we'll get the same experience sitting in front of a big screen TV (probably watching football)! But, we'll see. Maybe I'm just I'm just being negative. I'll let you know how it goes! Posted by Picasa
