Hello from Sunny Florida

...well, not exactly as sunny as I would like it. It was mostly cloudy today and very windy. Even though the weather man said it got up to 76 degrees I laid at the pool with a t-shirt on and a towel covering my legs. But I still enjoyed every minute of it. Yesterday and today were spent totally relaxing by the beach and pool. That's what I love to do on vacation. Just lay out in the sun and read a book. I finished my first book -Blue Like Jazz - today and found it so thought provoking. I don't agree with everything Don Miller believes but it definitely got me thinking about my life and I have come to the conclusion that he's right about a majority of the issues he addresses. I enjoyed his book so much that we went to Barnes and Noble tonight and I picked out another one of Don Millers books...along with The Message, which I have been wanting to get for a long time. I keep trying to put links to these books but I'm using a very old laptop and a dial up connection (which is soooo 1999) and it's just not working. I'll probably blog more about my reading when I get home.
So that's what is going on with me. Just reading, getting a tan, spending time with my best friend, relaxing. Pure enjoyment!!

As you know I havn't had time to blog lately because I've been working at Oakland High School as the Substitute Secretary. I have truly enjoyed it and it looks like it could be turning into a permanent position. One of the things that I have really liked about it is getting to know the students. I'm lucky enough to have 3 of the starters of the basketball team as office workers which promted Joey and I to actually start going to the basketball games. We have had so much fun watching games and getting to know other parents and teachers. The team has worked so hard and it really had paid off by being ranked 2nd in the state. But last night was the last game of the season. They lost in the second round of the state tournament in a 3 overtime game...yes, that's right...3 overtimes. It was the most exciting game I have ever seen. But by the end of that last overtime they had played so hard and I could see the frustration and disappointment on their faces. The other team had scored 4 points and it became a reality that they couldn't fight back enough to get a win. I actually left with 20 seconds left on the clock because I knew I didn't want to see that look of disappointment in their eyes. It was heart wrenching. :(
But I am so, so proud of them! Here's a link to the article in the paper about the game.

Other news in my life: Yesterday we celebrated Lillie's birthday. She will be four on Wednesday and since Joey and I are going out of town (Yah!) we had a little party for her. Can you believe she is 4?!!!

And.........this afternoon Joey and I are heading down to Palm Beach Shores for the week. For a whole week I plan on laying on the beach, reading a couple books, doing absolutely nothing. Pure enjoyment!
Of course I post a couple pictures when I get back.

Hope you have a great weekend!

The Scrap House

Last weekend I went on a little retreat with my scrappin' friends. We rented a house in Joelton that is just for this sort of thing. Great place for it. We totally enjoyed ourselves...no kids...no husbands...we ate...we drank...and had a great scrappin' time!
