Christian graduates high school tomorrow...and I'm really having a hard time with it. I thought I would just be relieved to have them all almost grown up, but now that's not how I feel at all.
I long for the days of T-ball games and cub scouts. :(

Anyway, I made a movie for Christian of some pictures of her growing up. It will probably bore you to death but I know my mom will enjoy seeing it!

Hey...I'm Bloggin'!!!!

I know...I know...It's been a long time. But I just had to share some pictures. Tonight is Christian's Senior Prom and I know my mom would love to see how beautiful she looks. So here they are:

Christian and her new boyfriend, Nathan (who, as you can see didn't go with her to the Prom!)

Christian and her date, Tennyson Dodd (he is very cute, isn't he?!!)

Hello from Sunny Florida

...well, not exactly as sunny as I would like it. It was mostly cloudy today and very windy. Even though the weather man said it got up to 76 degrees I laid at the pool with a t-shirt on and a towel covering my legs. But I still enjoyed every minute of it. Yesterday and today were spent totally relaxing by the beach and pool. That's what I love to do on vacation. Just lay out in the sun and read a book. I finished my first book -Blue Like Jazz - today and found it so thought provoking. I don't agree with everything Don Miller believes but it definitely got me thinking about my life and I have come to the conclusion that he's right about a majority of the issues he addresses. I enjoyed his book so much that we went to Barnes and Noble tonight and I picked out another one of Don Millers books...along with The Message, which I have been wanting to get for a long time. I keep trying to put links to these books but I'm using a very old laptop and a dial up connection (which is soooo 1999) and it's just not working. I'll probably blog more about my reading when I get home.
So that's what is going on with me. Just reading, getting a tan, spending time with my best friend, relaxing. Pure enjoyment!!

As you know I havn't had time to blog lately because I've been working at Oakland High School as the Substitute Secretary. I have truly enjoyed it and it looks like it could be turning into a permanent position. One of the things that I have really liked about it is getting to know the students. I'm lucky enough to have 3 of the starters of the basketball team as office workers which promted Joey and I to actually start going to the basketball games. We have had so much fun watching games and getting to know other parents and teachers. The team has worked so hard and it really had paid off by being ranked 2nd in the state. But last night was the last game of the season. They lost in the second round of the state tournament in a 3 overtime game...yes, that's right...3 overtimes. It was the most exciting game I have ever seen. But by the end of that last overtime they had played so hard and I could see the frustration and disappointment on their faces. The other team had scored 4 points and it became a reality that they couldn't fight back enough to get a win. I actually left with 20 seconds left on the clock because I knew I didn't want to see that look of disappointment in their eyes. It was heart wrenching. :(
But I am so, so proud of them! Here's a link to the article in the paper about the game.

Other news in my life: Yesterday we celebrated Lillie's birthday. She will be four on Wednesday and since Joey and I are going out of town (Yah!) we had a little party for her. Can you believe she is 4?!!!

And.........this afternoon Joey and I are heading down to Palm Beach Shores for the week. For a whole week I plan on laying on the beach, reading a couple books, doing absolutely nothing. Pure enjoyment!
Of course I post a couple pictures when I get back.

Hope you have a great weekend!

The Scrap House

Last weekend I went on a little retreat with my scrappin' friends. We rented a house in Joelton that is just for this sort of thing. Great place for it. We totally enjoyed ourselves...no kids...no husbands...we ate...we drank...and had a great scrappin' time!

The Music Man...Again!

I went back today to see the last performance of the Music Man and to take better pictures. I was thoroughly entertained again. All of the students did such a great job and really had fun doing it.

So this week I've got Young Life at my house on Monday night, basketball game on Tuesday night, Small Group on Wednesday. I'm free on Thursday night...I guess I'll do laundry. Then Friday, ohhhhhhh I can't wait till Friday. A group of eight of us scrapbookers have rented a house up in Joelton and we are going to scrapbook all weekend long. I'm not sure I have that much scrappin' to do (I'm kinda caught up) so I'm going to bring along a knitting project too. I'm just really looking forward to getting away with some great friends. Can't wait til Friday....did I already say that?!!

Hope you all have a great week!

The Music Man

Christian is in her high school musical "The Music Man" which started Thursday night and continues until tomorrow. I can not tell you how professional this little musical was...especially for high school. The acting, singing, just the whole thing was so entertaining. There are some very talented young people at Oakland High School and I'm so proud of them. I'm going back tomorrow just to take pictures.

Just Checking In!

It's my second week of working full time and I'm totally exhausted. I know it sounds like I'm being a baby but it's gonna take me a while to get adjusted to having to be somewhere every morning at 7:30.
This weekend I got a chance to finish the sweater I knit for Lillie. I got a lot of satisfaction from making this with my own two hands. It's not perfect, but it was made with love and Lillie thinks it's the most beautiful sweater she's ever seen! She's so sweet!

Crazy Week

Last week was a crazy week, lots of new stuff going on in my life. I was blessed with a full time job for the next 4 or 5 weeks. The secretary at Oakland High School is going to have surgery tomorrow and she asked if I wanted to fill in for her while she's out. When I said yes I really didn't have any idea what I was getting myself into...it can be quite chaotic in a high school office. But I will do everything I can to do a great job and endure the chaos until she gets back. Pray for me!! I haven't worked full time since before Amie was born 22 years ago, so I'm kind of scared about having to get up and go somewhere every single day.
Not only did that job come to me, but I've been offered another job after that that just fell in my lap. God knows my unexplainable fear of interviews and I think He has given me these jobs in spite of myself. I do have to say I'm sorry to Jill - my Wednesday scrappin' buddy. But my husband thinks it's time for me to act like a grown up and have a grown up job! LOL And with Christian going to college in the fall I understand where he's coming from. So here I go...into the grown up world of working full time...I hope I survive!
We had quite a scare last night when Adam called and said he had been in an accident while riding a friend's motorcycle. Turns out he was doing a wheelie while going 45 miles per hour driving around a curve on an old country road. Of course he lost control and ended up mashed into a chain link fence. There must have been angels softening the blows because was able to get up and walk (well, more like limp) away with very minor injuries...just scrapes and bruises. He even refused care when the ambulance arrived. Praise God is all I can say.
Well, I guess that's about it. Oh, wait, I'm supposed to be in The Tennessean on Wednesday along with my friend Jill. If you get that newspaper look in the Food section!
I hope you guys have a great week. I'll check in on Friday and let you know how my first week went.

A New Year

I've got new yarn...to make a beautiful sweater for Lillie.

I've got new scrapbook supplies...to do whatever it is I do with scrapbook supplies.

And

We have 2 new members of our family.

Meet Earl.

Christian impulsivly decided to buy a guinea pig (Earl). It's the only typical household pet we haven't had in our house. We've had the usual cat and dogs, then we've fish, many many hamsters, crabs, a rabbit, a hedgehog, and a ferret. But never a guinea pig. So before she goes off to college she wanted to experience life with a guinea pig.

And Randy.

Of coarse when Lillie came over a saw Earl she fell in love with him and became very upset that she didn't have one too. Good ole Uncle Adam witnessed her "drama" and immediately left and came home with another guinea pig (Randy). So now Earl and Randy reside happily in Christian's room.

That's how my New Year has started off.

I hope the new year ahead is a blessed and prosperous one for you and your household.

New Year's Eve

Well this is how we spent our New Years Eve...playing Dance Revolution with our kids. And ya know, it was a lot a fun. Even Adam danced. Then we played several rounds of Mad Gab before Joey and I went to bed...at 10:30!(even Lillie stayed up later than we did)

Christian Poses and Lottery Tickets

Here she goes again. She wears me out with her poses. EVERY time I try to take a group photo, she has to do a weird pose. Maybe it's because she's the baby in the family...I don't know but whatever the reason, it's very annoying!

Santa did bring an interesting gift for their stockings...lottery tickets...which they thought were very fun (much better than candy) and they've already informed us they want Santa to bring them again next year! Posted by Picasa

12/29/06 - Update on the Lottery Winnings:Amie didn't win anything. Adam won $4 and 1 free ticket, niether of which he has cashed in yet. Christian initially won $4 and 3 free tickets which Joey cashed in and she ended up with a $27 winning ticket. Amie and Adam both decided gambling doesn't pay, Christian thinks it might be a good part time job. Aren't we great parents!
